July 29, 2010 Shouldn't you let the user of the phone decide what they want to buy instead of persuading me to get something i don't think i will like? Doh.
For every reason I have a defense for iphone.. Is it really that holy that everyone must own one? No offence intended.
I've done my research and even read numerous websites over the pro and cons. I've taken into careful consideration all the relevant factors before making my decision.
Me : Iphone doesn't have physical keypad. Having typed an sms for my mum, I had typo errors for 8 words out of 10 words, to be fair, the auto correct worked for all the words but boy did I still feel damn pissed /irritated because of that. Utterly disgusted how people can deal with that. Maybe that's the deciding factor.
Response : It just takes a little getting used to.
Argument : Of course, it takes getting used to. You are right. Call me old school but I believe a physical one is more practical & less time consuming. I can multitask typing with something else. Try not looking at the screen and typing on an iphone.
---
Me : Iphone battery doesn't last. To be fair, iphone has a longer batt life when talking, but on standby mode it has lesser. But I don't talk much, I don't think it'll be a problem.
Response : Bring a charger along - be it some cable or wire.
Argument : If I'm on the go with no power outlets or laptop, what to do? I admit I'm a phone addict and get really restless with a flat battery. If you factor in the size & weight of the charger (aka BULKY ITEM), iphone isn't really all that small and light.
FYI I think it defeats the purpose of a phone. Yes, very dumb. Carrying a phone with no batt is like putting a paperweight in your bag. No offense again. Sorry, have to stress the word dumb again.
Also, that means I only charge my phone once every 2days instead of daily. (I love my nokia e63 because it lasts 3days on heavy usage and 5days on low usage - maybe I'll keep it for standby)
---
Them : Iphone has more apps.
Arguement : No arguement actually, but just think about it. I admit iphone has more apps. But how many are actually useful/commonly accessed? The main ones I would require would most likely be found in bb as well.
---
Them : Iphone has a bigger screen
Arguement : Again, no arguement. I agree. But its not really an important factor to me. Good to have, but not necessary. Maybe I'm used to it
---
Design wise, both are pleasant to my eye. So its a tie.
---
And last of all, something to contradict my decision.
Me : Playing iphone on bejeweled rocks
Response : of course no doubt it does, but I have to factor in that I wouldn't always be on bejeweled. Also, with the battery life, I don't think I can play that game for too long either, unless I want to turn it into a fancy paperweight.
Me : I love touch screen items
Repsonse : It's cool. But once it goes awry, the whole phone is redundant. Coupled with my laptop which is now out of calibration by about 2-3cm, I don't really trust touch screens that much.
Summary : I think the actual go-or-no-go decision lies soley because of the keypad, followed by the battery life.
I mean, if you were to make me choose between bb and iphone 3gs, I would ask the iphone 3gs to go fly a kite without second thought. It just isn't enough to justify my preference for iphone.
I did wait for the iphone 4 to launch. I admit its much better than 3Gs, and much prettier too. I did consider it. But I don't trust new stuff too much either and I don't feel compelled to buy it, neither do I hear it screaming out to me "BUY ME BUY ME".
I don't know, maybe I may end up regretting my decision, but then again. I like being unique. The decision will be the simplest if I can find that ferrari phone again. I'll definitely choose that over other phones, not practical, but keeps me happy!

July 21, 2010 Blog awhile before going to sleep.

See how it goes tomorrow!

July 20, 2010 Taking some time to blog before I go to sleep.
Wanted to go swimming today but the sky was threatening to rain so I decided not to and headed for the gym! Lousy gym.. but good enough.. And so nixnix started jogging!
Actually there's a lot of reasons why I avoid the gym.
1. I can do something more fun with my time 2. I end up tired the whole day 3. I hate getting sticky
But after some consideration I have arguments FOR gymming. 1. I have nothing much to do other than go online and watch tv :p 2. If I exercise regularly I won't feel tired 3. I already got used to feeling sticky in Taipei walking in that heat for the whole day 4. I get to lose weight hah. 5. I want to be mini 小猪猪 instead!
Hahaha.

July 19, 2010 Haven't blogged for some time and hmm, here I am!
Finally started job search after dinner yesterday (since its past midnight).
Had super filling food and cakes at Dempsey the whole of today and I wanted to make a trip to the gym tonight, unfortunately, got stuck watching tv and job hunting. Think I will head to the gym downstairs tomorrow morning!
I need to start a proper exercise regime lest I become a 小猪猪!
Anyway I saw a post recently.. It went something like.. "Since we are going to spend the rest of our lives eating 3 meals a day, might as well learn to cook proper meals" or something along that line and it dawned on me... Hey! How true?
And so.. I should learn to watch less Crime and Investigation series and watch more cooking channel.
Anyway, this has gotta be the best and most cherished holiday ever! I love my baby (:
Gotta try and catch some sleep!

July 15, 2010 I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Woohoo.. Time flies so fast when I'm enjoying myself. Shop shop shop & more window shopping after some time. Eat, eat, eat and still eat. Heh.
Watched the last World Cup match. I was struggling to keep up to watch it haha but it looks interesting. Now I know why so many people are addicted to watching soccer. Well, next time I think I may be too...
小老虎&小猪猪! (:
Japannnnnnnnnnn next year!!!

DOES THIS WORK ANGEZ? HAHAHA

It would have been 4-5years since I last visited Taipei and if you ask me, it wasn't the best trip.
On a sidenote, I tend to have no clue where I went especially when on tour.. Seems like my memory isn't that good ; either that or I just preferred having some shut eye while the tour guide is babbling away about the country and its history - exactly why I love to travel but am highly unlikely to take up the job as a tour guide.
So, my last trip to Taiwan was in 2005 or 2006?. It was spring time - cold still. My family and I were on tour.
Shopping : I loved Taipei 101. Bought a gumball machine for baby. I have an affinity of buying things that I like for people.
Went to this "wholesale" place and bought a long pink translucent top. This was probably the only piece of clothing I bought during my entire trip - everything else was long sleeved & boots! Oh, and that top is now in the bag of clothing I intend to give away.
Oh and their night markets? I felt they were overpriced.
Here comes... No doubt being on a tour meant that we would never go hungry. There was about 10 dishes every meal.. 70% meat, 30% vegetables. No doubt the food tasted great, but after a few days, I found myself fighting for the veggie dishes before the plate gets emptied.
I don't remember having street food. Speaking about street food, my dad used to limit street food to the last day of any holiday, just in case we fell sick. But the problem is, I LOVE STREET FOOD and whenever I'm given time off on my own there goes.. I'd be spotted with street food hahaha.
Okay back to the topic.. I love meat. I can't survive without meat.. But I became vegetarian for a week when I came back from Taiwan. Need I say more?
Food satisfaction factor : 6/10
Comments : Not some place I'd be very excited to go again.
Overall satisfaction factor : 5/10 (I'll always pass a holiday because I love holidays).
My last trip overseas was in Oct 09 so a holiday is long overdue!
A little disclaimer : Baby and I wanted to go someplace we've both not been to. I'd have pestered for shopping paradise Bangkok if not for the political unrest(still ongoing). Baby's been to Taipei at least twice and I've been there once. But anyway, after pinpointing various places to go, we somehow ended up with Taipei. Baby will be my tour guide ; awesome!
Now here comes the interesting part. In approximately 9 days, that's exactly where I'll be heading.
I've spent numerous hours researching on Taipei & also the area where I'll be residing in, Ximending.
The more I read the more intrigued I am and to be honest, I am really looking forward to this trip.
Looking forward :
Food :
Street food everywhere ah!!!!! Yumyum. The pictures online.. Superb!! I already started my diet now & slight exercise so I can go there and be a glutton (although I already expect to pack on pounds there).
*drools*
Expected food satisfaction factor : 10/10!
Shopping :
Well its summer now and judging by the pictures online things have changed a lot so I definitely believe that I'll enjoy myself there..
Plus baby is a nice companion to shop with haha.
Expected shopping satisfaction factor : 8/10
Itinerary : I have none. I'll just follow my personal tour guide. But one thing for sure, I wanna visit Taipei 101!
